The prototype ads will offer a template for publishers to better monetise initial experiments in VR or 360 video storytelling. The project will also stimulate discussion about non-intrusive VR ad formats in a news context.

We like to look at this as a very user centric approach that we would want to open source after successful completion.

Structured news are exploring a new space in news presentation and consumption. It promotes that journalistic content be treated as structured data and structured data as journalistic content. Public procurement (or tendering) is the process of acquiring goods and services for the government. It is therefore the most prominent flow of public money into the private sector. However, structured journalistic research into tenders is limited. Only incidental cases make it to the media, often facilitated by whistle-blowers. We want to spread the notion that it is important for the government to be open about how it spends money that we entrust in its metaphorical hands. Our tool visualizes public procurement markets as a bi-modal directed network visualization. By translating theory on red flags of corruption into these visualizations, we help journalists to focus their research on the juiciest parts of public spending markets.
